Pinterest Food Experiment: Quick Shepherd’s Pie

I love everything about shepherd’s pie. Beef, gravy, mashed potatoes. Really, you just can’t go wrong. So, I was really excited to find a quick recipe for it. Naturally, I pinned that recipe.

Delicious, but not the prettiest presentation.

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 can minestrone soup
1 can tomato soup
1 can green beans
4 cups mashed potatoes (I used 2 packages instant mashed potatoes)
2 cups cheese (I probably ended up using about 1 cup)

Instructions:
1. Brown and drain ground beef.
2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground beef, the soups and the beans. I think that it may be nice to drain about half the water off the green beans. Season with salt and pepper.

Starting to come together

3. Pour mixture into a 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover with mashed potatoes and cheese.

Looking delicious!

4. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes until gooey and cheese is just starting to turn brown.

Bubbling and smelling delicious

5. Serve!

Verdict: This was delicious! Nate’s take was “wow! You can make this whenever you want!” Also, it makes a lot of food! We dropped about half of it in the freezer, ate some for dinner and still have 3 big servings left in the fridge.
