Nate is one of the luckiest people I know. It seems like at least half the time he enters a raffle or something similar, he wins.
When a nationwide, one night only, movie event for the release of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation was announced, Nate entered a raffle for free tickets. He was one of 100 people across the country to win tickets and a movie poster.
So… we went to an over 2 hour event with several behind the scenes discussions about Star Trek (both reflections on the beginning of TNG and on the making of the HD Blu-ray) and 2 episodes from the first season. It was really interesting to listen to the interviews with the actors about the process of being cast for the show. Most of the discussion of the process of remastering the film for HD was a little more in depth than I would have wanted, but was still pretty cool. Apparently, the resolution for HD is present on the film but not capturable on the playback methods available at the time. So, they rescanned all the film and frame by frame duplicated the effects digitally. The episodes themselves were definitely enjoyable. Overall, by the end of the 2 hours I was impressed and a little trek-ed out.
